Guy Fieri Brings Flavortown to North Texas, Joins Troy Aikman and Pudge Rodriguez on New Celebrity Restaurant Row
Can the Hyper Food Network Star Do Tacos That Impress Texans?
BY Dyala Ashfour // 07.26.18Guy Fieri is one of the most famous food personalities in the world. And he's bringing Flavortown to Dallas. Or at least, Arlington.
Did someone say Shiner Ruby Red-glazed pork shoulder tacos? Sounds like a one-way ticket to Flavortown.
Diners Drive-Ins and Dives’ Guy Fieri is making his way to North Texas with a new restaurant — Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint in Arlington. Best known as a boisterous TV personality on Food Network, Fieri is also an author, restaurateur and an Emmy-award winning chef.
Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint is coming to Arlington’s brand-new, $250 million entertainment hub, Texas Live. The restaurant is one of eight set to open this August in the development, which is centered around the Texas Rangers’ new indoor ballpark. That ballpark, Globe Life Field, is scheduled to open in 2020.
Right now, Texas Live is across the street from the Rangers’ current home, Globe Life Park.
Fieri will have plenty of celebrity company in this new restaurant mecca. Dallas Cowboys quarterback great Troy Aikman (Troy’s) and Rangers Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez (Pudge’s Pizza) are also both opening restaurants in Texas Live. Of course, the distinctive, spiky-haired, exuberant Fieri is famous enough himself to have been lampooned on Saturday Night Live.
Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint will feature tacos such as the Achiote Chicken — a shredded, slow-braised, achiote-marinated chicken taco with borracho sauce, pico de gallo, cabbage, cotija and salsa rojo. The Al Pastor tacos are another menu highlight, with an interesting kick from Shiner Ruby Red grapefruit beer, grilled onions and grilled pineapple serrano salsa.
All of the new taco joint’s menu items will be made from scratch, including salsa, guacamole and the tacos themselves.
The restaurant will also boast a full bar with classic Guy Fieri cocktails, Mexican beers and house-made margaritas.
Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint is set to debut along with Lockhart Smokehouse, PBR Texas, Troy’s, and other restaurants at the grand opening of Texas Live from August 9 to August 12.
