The Battle to be Dallas’ Best Sushi Restaurant

Sushi is a simple concept that few restaurants get truly right. Fortunately for Dallas foodies, there are worthy exceptions in this city. But what’s the No. 1 sushi restaurant in Dallas?

You get to decide by voting for your rightful champ in PaperCity‘s Best Sushi Challenge. The winning restaurant takes home serious bragging rights, but you get a chance to win big too.

One voter will be randomly selected to win a $250 gift card from whichever restaurant emerges as the sushi champion. That’s some serious raw fish buying power. You can vote once per day — and the more times you vote, the more chances you have to win.

Here are the 10 championship sushi contenders:

Uchi

With fresh fish flown in daily, you really can count on Tyson Cole’s Uptown restaurant to hook you up with everything from Tasmanian ocean trout from Tokyo’s most famous fish market to a killer “Zero Sen” roll packed with yellowtail, avocado, shallot and cilantro.

Yutaka Sushi Bistro

This is a place where you go to get A-plus sushi in a low-key setting. Yutaka devotees are way too focused on demolishing fresh water eel and sea urchin to spend their time snapping Instagram photos.

Tei Tei Robata Bar

Tei Tei’s unadulterated Japanese cuisine may make you a little nervous, but get on board and you’ll be all in. This Knox Henderson hotspot embraces picky eaters and tries to make everyone comfortable.

Tei-An

Tei-Ann chef Teiichi Sakurai is essentially the God of Dallas Japanese food. I mean, do a little digging and his handprints are all over multiple mainstays on the Dallas dining scene (spoiler alert Teppo and Tei Tei). None overshadow this swanky One Arts Plaza palace that is known for freshly made soba noodles and seasonal sashimi.

Nobu

People around the country know that this iconic sushi spot is going to serve up fresh fish in a sophisticated setting regardless of which location that you visit. Located at The Crescent, the Dallas Nobu definitely does not disappoint and delivers sushi in all sorts of creative ways.

Imoto

A brief glance at the menu will have your head swimming (like the little fishies in the sea) – the number of sushi and sashimi options is enough to satisfy anyone. This Kent Rathbun restaurant in Victory Park has made a big impact in a short time.

Teppo

Teppo has been a beloved Dallas staple since 1995, and locals are sure to keep coming thanks to its quality and surprising affordability. Sushi needs to be fresh and delicious, and Teppo delivers.

Oishii

This Oak Lawn-area restaurant is always crowded and packed full of people ordering all of their crazy sushi rolls including the “Texas Roll” that is packed with chopped octopus, avocado, smelt egg and jalapeño or the ever popular “On the Border” roll that consists of salmon and lots of pico de gallo. Yep, they take it there, and its good.

Sushi Sake

This little restaurant located in Richardson serves up some serious dishes, and checks everything off the list for sushi-lovers. This iconic restaurant has been in the business for more than a decade and serves up some of the best sushi and sashimi samplers in The Metroplex.

Shinsei

Shinsei has been serving sushi for 10 years now all thanks to the two women who were looking to bring something new to their neighborhood. The hospitality and sushi quality keep fans coming back for more.
