PC Moment: Hundreds of North Texas’ brightest community leaders, business people, corporate sponsors, philanthropists and media gathered at the Hilton Anatole for the 2017 Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon. The annual event, organized by The Family Place, recognizes extraordinary individuals making a positive change in the community, while raising funds to support the organization’s comprehensive programming.
The Family Place helps victims of family violence on their path from fear to safety by providing free access to safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence. Last year alone, the organization provided services to nearly 10,000 clients, and fed more than 50 children every day at its Safe Campus.
The 2017 luncheon honored noted Dallas philanthropist Lynn McBee for her tireless efforts to help others and make Dallas a better place.
Renowned news anchor Gretchen Carlson was the featured speaker of the afternoon. An activist for women’s rights and empowerment, Carlson has written extensively on the subject of domestic violence and was featured on the cover of TIME magazine for speaking out about sexual harassment in the workplace.
