Cancer and cars collide for the 23rd annual Susan’s Rally, a fundraising event that raises money and awareness for breast cancer and its treatment and prevention. Audi Center is this year’s starting line, rallying cars and enthusiasts alike before a city-wide scavenger hunt — an activity kicked off with the waving of a race-worthy black and white-checkered flag. Following the hunt, the caravan moves to Post Oak Grill for an afternoon of lunch and an action-packed auction.
Interior designer Bruce Robertson started the event after his sister Susan passed away from breast cancer 24 years ago. His annual car rally, which Susan attended every year, traveling to Houston from her home in Tulsa, was transformed into a vehicle to help benefit the fight against cancer. Pro tip: Be on the lookout for Robertson’s signature checkered pants and rally cap.
Since its inception, Susan’s Rally has raised more than $5 million for its cause
