Houston’s Top Lawyers Schmooze at River Oaks Country Club, Raise Big Money for Pro Bono Work: Helping Legal Eagles

What: 69th annual Harvest Celebration

Where: River Oaks Country Club

PC Moment: More than 900 Houston Bar Association members and guests gathered for the heavy-duty schmoozing that raised close to $780,000 for pro bono legal services for low income Houstonians via Houston Volunteer Lawyers. The annual cocktail fête is sponsored by the Houston Bar Association, Houston Bar Foundation and Houston Bar Association Auxiliary.

Key players and legal stars greeting guests were HBA president Warren Harris of Bracewell LLP and his wife, Lauren Beck Harris of Porter Hedges LLP; Houston Bar Foundation chair Barrett Reasoner of Gibbs & Bruns LLP, and his wife, Susan Reasoner; HBA Auxiliary president Greg Griffin of Ford + Bergner LLP; and HBAA Charitable Fund chair Dominique Varner of Hughes Watters Askanase LLP.

Since becoming a bonafide fundraiser 18 years ago, the event has raised close to $8 million for pro bono legal services in Harris County.

PC Seen: Sheridan and John Eddie Williams, Bain and Jim Pearson, Laura Gibson, Randy Sorrels, Sameera and Ashish Mahendru, Jacquelyn and Collin Cox, Trey Apfel, Frank Hinnant, Annsley and Chris Popov, Travis Torrence, Judge Michael Gomez of the 129th District Court, Judge Andrew Hanen of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and Ivette and Gerald Hughes.
