What: “Let’s Do Lunch” with Dec My Room
Where: The Federal Grill
PC Moment: Nothing like a glass of bubbly or a margarita to start the morning off right. Just ask the gals who made the scene at the Shepherd Drive restaurant for champagne and shopping in a field of pop-ups before settling down for lunch for the benefit of Dec My Room. The champagne was Veuve and the margaritas compliments of Casamigos.
These ladies who lunch for a worthy cause, in this case decorating the hospital rooms of children with long-term stays, made the best of the shopping thanks to vendors including Anita Ko jewelry, Paris Texas Co., Switch2Pure, Kelly Kathleen Designs and Haute and Cool Chocolates. Paris Texas and chocolates offered plenty of Astros paraphernalia for the team’s World Series run.
The multi-tiered event included a fashion show from Neiman Marcus while the ladies lunched on chef Matt Brice’s shrimp and grits, chicken and Brussels sprouts and oh-so tempting brownies and bread pudding desserts.
Add a raffle to the fun, with prizes including a 28K yellow gold horseshoe necklace from Anita Ko, a pairing dinner from Federal Grill, a luncheon and shopping event at Neiman Marcus and a myst-have handbag courtesy of Ralph Lauren.
Dec My Room was founded in 2007 by Houstonian Susan Plank and her daughter, Kendall. Since that initial decorative feat for a bone marrow transplant child, the nonprofit now has chapters serving close to three dozen hospitals across the country, including six in Houston — Texas Children’s Hospital, MD Anderson, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Children’s Health, Children’s Memorial Hermann, Methodist Children’s Hospital and Cook Children’s.
