It’s a question that is always sure to spark a heated debate: What’s the best margarita in Dallas? The tequila-spiked cocktail was allegedly invented by Dallas socialite Margarita Sames on a trip to Acapulco in 1948, and it’s been a mainstay of Dallas patios ever since.
While there’s no wrong way to drink a marg – frozen, on the rocks, salt on the rim or fruit in the glass – some specific margaritas are just a cut above the rest.
Finding the very best margaritas in Dallas was a tough job, but someone had to do it! There are plenty of places to get a good marg (Urban Taco, Taco Diner, Mesero, Joe T. Garcia’s, José – the list could go on), but it’s time for you to choose.
We’ve narrowed it down to four contenders — from beloved Dallas staples like Mi Cocina and Gloria’s to newly-opened hotspots like Jalisco Norte.
You get to decide the ultimate winner by voting for your favorite in PaperCity‘s Margarita Challenge. The winning restaurant will get serious bragging rights, but you can can win big too.
One voter will be randomly selected to win a $250 gift card from whichever restaurant emerges as the margarita champion. That’s some serious margarita madness. You can vote once per day — and the more times you vote, the more chances you have to win.
With Cinco de Mayo approaching on Saturday, there’s no better time to engage in some margarita madness.
The Margarita Challenge Finalists:
Mi Cocina
Are you even a Dallasite if you’ve never had a margarita from Mi Cocina? The Tex-Mex institution serves up margaritas a few ways, but our favorite is its famous Mambo Taxi – a classic frozen margartia swirled with housemade sangria.
Meso Maya
Avocados prove to be a versatile and unfailingly delicious fruit in Meso Maya’s unusual yet popular signature cocktail, the Avocado Margarita. Fresh pineapple, lime juice and Casa Noble Crystal give the drink a refreshing kick.
Gloria’s
Yet another Dallas Tex-Mex institution, Gloria’s is not just known for its ever-popular Signature Margarita. Its chipotle-spiked Spicy Pineapple Margarita is another hit. Whether you opt for the classic or decide to heat things up, you can’t go wrong.
Jalisco Norte
This hip new Mexican restaurant has an extensive cocktail program, including one luxe margarita. “Keeping Up with the Jerry Joneses,” an homage to the Dallas Cowboys’ owner, fuses native Jalisco agave syrup with Gran Patron Platinum Tequila, Grand Marnier Centenario and fresh-squeezed lime.
