Edeline Lee
To coincide with her trunk show and recent drop-in to Stanley Korshak earlier this week, we caught up with emerging designer, Edeline Lee — one fashion’s most compelling futurists and a newcomer on the London Fashion Week roster.
We asked Lee to take a stab at PaperCity‘s Preferential Treatment questionnaire, direct from London, and learned that we must quickly trade showers for the bath and trade out all of our pajamas for sleepwear custom-made in India.
Tell me about your work: I am a young designer who has been showing on the official calendar of London Fashion Week for three years. I design for the “Future Lady” — a muse that I invented to represent what dignity, grace, femininity, and power look like on today’s woman.
Where are you right at this moment: My studio in East London.
The zip code you call home: E1
Style of residence: Victorian townhouse
Pajamas or in the buff: My linen pyjamas that I have made for me in India; they are based on traditional Indian men’s clothing.
Early or late riser: Always later than I’d like!
Coffee or tea: Coffee — all day long. It’s a weakness.
Morning beauty ritual: Soap and water, Suqqu skincare and makeup. Their eyebrow pens are to die for — so natural — and I don’t know how Olive Green can be a natural brow color, but it really works.
Evening beauty ritual: Living in England for so many years has turned me into a bathing person. I prefer baths over showers any day. I prefer scalding hot, with a few drops of Santa Maria Novella Olio da Bagno.
Go-to daytime ensemble: My Pedernal Top and a Frank Skirt. I make them for myself in every color!
Ideal evening look: Everything I make is day into night. I often go straight from daytime meetings into my evening appointments
One thing you always keep in mind when getting dressed: Comfort, polish, and practicality — that’s why I make my clothes to resist wrinkling and I often wear a size up so that I can move.
Your happy place destination: New Mexico and Texas. I love the big skies and the big-hearted people.
The hotel you call your home-away-from home: Chiltern Firehouse.
Travel bag: Rimowas for big luggage; Globe Trotter for overnights.
Last person you cocktailed with and what was your poison: Dominic Limbrey and a D1 Gin and Tonic.
Dream concert: A private Billie Eilish concert at home with my friends.
Store where you wish you had an unlimited charge account: Stanley Korshak.
Items currently on your coffee table: Women and Power by Mary Beard.
Last movie you saw: Wonder Woman with my son.
Hall pass for a dalliance: A young Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through It.
Who would play you in the movie of your life: Gong Li
If you weren’t in your current profession what would you be doing: Kite surfing in Sardinia.
Secret skill: Aglio, Olio Peperoncino pasta, and I can do a mean Sunday roast.
Guilty pleasure: Golden Virginia.
