Mud Room Overview
The mudroom is not known for being the chicest room in the house, but we took the challenge and ran with the same approach that we bring to all of our design projects: interiors structured in detail. Our vision for the room started with the refined, rift-cut white oak millwork and detail. We love how the cabinet and seating area welcomes people in, while the relaxed elegance of the Ruan Hoffmann floor tiles and ancestral iron earthenware provide playful pattern underfoot. With this small space in mind, one of the more exciting elements we chose to highlight was the door.
By creating a custom Dutch-style door, we gave an important nod to Southern hospitality. Lighting is always a critical component of every space we design, and we selected two very complementary artisans to create pieces perfectly suited but juxtaposed in materials. Carrying through the aged brass of the sconce light, the handmade brass details are a strong punctuation. A final highlight is the incredible Elitis wallpaper that serves as an unexpected color palette for the upholstery and visual story in the space. A thank you does not begin to encapsulate our gratitude to all who worked with us on this incredible opportunity. — Erin Sanders Design
