What: Iconic Design, Cocktails, and Book Signing with Mark D. Sikes in Conversation with Jan Showers
Where: Jan Showers showroom
Book: Mark D. Sikes’ Forever Beautiful (Rizzoli)
Highlights: These two could have a morning talk show in their future. Who doesn’t want to see the glamorous Showers in emerald-green velvet Prada platforms and a soigné dress chat up dashing Sikes, whom I often refer to as #blueandwhiteboy. Showers can simply raise an eyebrow without saying a word, and you know she is endlessly intrigued by a vignette.
Takeaway: Sikes created his newest book during the pandemic lockdown, when he was spending a lot of time in his outdoor living spaces. His team decided to film an inspiring and enlightening behind-the-scenes documentary of his working style, which Sikes screened that afternoon. One key bit of advice: “Art is often a completer. Rooms are more special and unique when there is a friction with a carefully chosen work of art.”
