In this era of fast fashion, it’s hard to establish a look that that is uniquely “you.” Discerning Houston shoppers know that The Cotton Club Collection is the place to find high-quality designer duds that really stand out.
Shop owners Jennifer Cunningham (formerly of Foley’s and Tootsies) and John Maguire (formerly of Saks Fifth Avenue, Lillie Ruben and Tootsies) have breathed new life into the River Oaks boutique, which they took over in 2017.
Along with the chic women’s wear and fine jewelry that the Cotton Club Collection has built a reputation upon since opening in the 1980s, the shop is known for its beyond distinctive selection.
It even offers 11 exclusive brands that shoppers won’t find anywhere else in the entire city of Houston. This is a place where you can actually pick up something truly unique — and not be wearing what everyone else is wearing.
This is your Elite 11 of Cotton Club finds:
Crea Concept Paris
Crea Concept infuses modern silhouettes with a timeless style. With a collection marked by rich textures, asymmetrical hemlines and architectural details, it’s no surprise that the designer is inspired by modern art and urban culture. (Shop even more of the brand at a special trunk show on Oct. 4, 5 and 6.)
Sarah Pacini
Italian designer Sarah Pacini fuses art, design and fashion. Her F/W 18 collection is marked by surprising, alluring silhouettes rendered in cozy mohair, sleek linen and smooth, durable gabardine — perfect fabrics for Houston’s mild winters.
Pier Antonio Gaspari
Enthusiastic and experimental, PierAntonio Gaspari crafts his designs for a seductive warrior. His F/W 18 collection, themed “painting,” incorporates iconic styles, inspiring tones and super-stylized silhouettes.
Seventy
Launched in Venice in 1970, Seventy arms the contemporary woman with everyday clothing that easily transitions from day to night — without skimping on sophistication. Expect high-quality fabrics in creative, feminine cuts.
Maliparmi
Driven by a passion for handbags with jewel-like details, Marol Pareisi founded Malìparmi in Italy in 1977. With Marol’s daughter Annalisa Paresi at the helm, the brand has expanded to clothing and footwear, but continues to be known for its adventurous, bold designs and its attention to detail.
LIE
Dynamic brother-sister duo Chung Chung Lee and Nana Lee were born into the fashion world, too: Their father was the head of the legendary South Korean fashion house Lie Sangbong. The siblings’ line, LIE, honors that heritage label in name as well as style — but offers the trademark elegance and sculptural details in more playful, inventive designs, and at a more accessible price point.
Sabina Savage
It’s hard to say which element of London designer Sabina Savage’s exquisite scarves is most notable: The gorgeous design (intricate, hand-drawn illustrations) or the luxurious fabrication (high-quality silk wool and cashmere, hand-edged by artisans in Como, Italy).
Daniella Lehavi
Daniella Lehavi’s leather handbags are anything but basic. Handcrafted in Israel, the whimsical, unique designs incorporate the finest materials for products as sumptuous as they are eye-catching.
Trippen
Avant-garde brand Trippen steps up footwear with unique soles, unconventional pattern techniques and iconic silhouettes. From minimal to experimental, each shoe model is simultaneously timeless and transcendent — and made to last.
Lika Behar
Lika Behar draws inspiration from ancient civilizations and the modern feminine spirit for her jewelry designs. Each piece is individually hand-wrought using 22- and 24-karat gold, oxidized sterling silver and extraordinary gemstones in lively hues and striking color combinations. (Frost yourself at a special trunk show this Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29.)

Fern Freeman
New York-based fine jewelry designer Fern Freeman also mixes metals and gemstones to produce dramatic, daring pieces. (Meet the designer and shop for your own pieces at a trunk show on Oct. 19 and 20!)
