WHAT: After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Salvation Army of North Texas’ Dallas Women’s Auxiliary debuted its highly anticipated signature fundraising event, the annual Fashion Show & Luncheon. Since its inception in 1993, The Fashion Show & Luncheon has raised more than $15 million to support services provided at 14 local Salvation Army facilities.

WHERE: The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in May of 2022.

THE SCENE: The gleaming Arts District concert hall set the perfect stage for the Dallas Women’s Auxiliary’s unique fundraising event. Part designer fashion show, part couture boutique, and part seated luncheon, the event helps to raise vital funds that provide assistance to North Texans combatting poverty, addiction, and homelessness.

After perusing The Chic Boutique, guests entered the Meyerson theater for a New York-style fashion show produced by the incomparable Jan Strimple featuring designer labels generously donated from Dallas’ most coveted closets and boutiques. Post-runway, Dallas Women’s Auxiliary president, Elizabeth Gambrell, honored Carol Seay with the 2020 Margot Perot Service Award for the countless hours of service and volunteering she has given as an Auxiliary member for the past two decades. The duo then presented this year’s 2022 Margot Perot Service Award to Kim Hext, the original event chair for 2020 who helped the organization pivot and adapt pivoted to the everchanging conditions the pandemic created.

In the past year alone, The Salvation Army of North Texas served more than 11.6 million meals, provided more than 520,000 nights of shelter, paid more than $9 million in financial assistance to help 30,000 individuals, and comforted 84,000 people through spiritual care.
