Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA) announces The Spirit of Savage Spaces, a solo exhibition featuring new works by Austin-based artist, Meredith Pardue. The opening reception will be held Sunday, April 27th from 12-3pm at our River Oaks District gallery (4444 Westheimer Rd). The artist will be in attendance.

Meredith Pardue shares with us a glimpse into her infinite dimensions of expression in her latest body of work, a reflection on the untamed spaces of existence and being. Tied to a style that has become renown, Meredith challenges herself to work from a different source of creative energy–a savage space. Her compositions expand beyond their usual boundaries, filling the entire canvas in a way that draws us into the space rather than observing it from above or outside. Balancing moments of vulnerability and strength, her work “stems from universal themes, rather than specific notions of ideas…concerned with resonance, not representation–how color vibrates, how forms evoke a unique, visceral experience.” Breaking free from her typical structural constraints she invites us deeper into her subject, revealing a sense of freedom within the framework of structure.
