What

The Dallas CASA Children’s Council will host the Cherish the Children benefit luncheon on April 11 at the Arts District Mansion. Dallas CASA will honor luminaries Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins with the Caroline Rose Hunt Cherish the Children Award for their work on behalf of vulnerable children. Regina and Paul are well-known Dallas attorneys and civic leaders, lending their support to such diverse causes as poverty, hunger, childcare and more.

The Caroline Rose Hunt Cherish the Children Award recognizes an individual or organization for outstanding contributions to helping children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The award was inspired by its namesake, Mrs. Hunt, because of her constant dedication to the most vulnerable in our city and helping people who could not help themselves.

The event’s guest speaker is Andrew Bridge, a New York Times bestselling author, children’s rights attorney and advisor to child welfare leaders. Bridge’s memoir “Hope’s Boy” chronicles his 11 years in foster care in Los Angeles. Most recently, he wrote the national bestseller “The Child Catcher: A Fight for Justice and Truth” covering his experience as a civil rights attorney representing children of the Eufaula Adolescent Center. Bridge’s legal career began representing children in foster care and he now advises senior federal and state officials on reforming our foster care system. Bridge is a Harvard Law School graduate, Fulbright Scholar and the co-founder of National Adoption Day.

Luncheon co-chairs are Lauren Rose Sands and Kathleen Thorson.
