The first weekend of Dry January is here. But, just because you’re abstaining from alcohol doesn’t mean you have to abstain from having fun. We’ve made a guide for going out in Dallas Dry January style.
Here’s how to get through a month of detoxing without sacrificing your social calendar.
Mocktail Hour
One of Dallas’ best new restaurants of 2017 has created a fun mocktail in honor of Dry January. Jalisco Norte’s grapefruit cinnamon soda is a fresh and fruity cocktail fix. Or, get a refreshing and health-conscious mocktail with the Pomegranate Beet Soda at Moxie’s Grill & Bar. Dakota’s Steakhouse also serves Agua Fresca with cucumber, lime and mint, and a Ginger Sour with cranberry, ginger beer and sweet & sour.
Caffeinate
You’re not drinking booze, but nobody said anything about coffee. Spots that fall between the bar and coffee shop category, like Wild Detectives and Mudsmith are perfect for Dry January. Your friends can still pick up a beer while you sip on house-brewed Kombucha or a latte.
Play Games
Go to places where drinking is not the main event. Get the ball rolling with a game at Bowlounge in the Dallas Design District, or Bowl & Barrel in North Dallas. If bowling isn’t your thing, check out old-school video games at Barcadia or play a game of giant Jenga at Social House in Uptown.
