Mystery, Comedy, and Drama Series Bring Major Star Power (Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin) and Some Funny Unknowns
BY Megan Ziots // 09.23.21Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, "Only Muders in the Building" follows a trio who start a podcast about a murder in their building.
From a new mystery show starring two classic comedians to the return of a dramatic favorite, these are the best new TV shows to stream right now. HBO Max, Hulu and Apple TV picks make the cut this month.
Only Murders In the Building (Hulu)
Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, this new Hulu mystery TV show is funny and suspenseful. The premise is simple: three Upper West Side strangers, who share a passion for the same true crime podcast, come together to solve a recent murder in their own building.
So far, six episodes are streaming with new ones premiering on Wednesdays. Martin and Short are always entertaining together, but Gomez adds a millennial twist to the two friends’ dynamic.

The Other Two: Season 2 (HBO Max)
I recently discovered this comedy TV show that follows the two older siblings of an overnight Internet sensation named Chase Dreams. Cary Dubek is struggling to land acting roles in New York City, while his sister Brooke is trying to find her purpose in life in general. It’s absolutely hilarious as the two find themselves in the most awkward situations, while their teenage brother and mother become famous and move to New York City.
The second season recently began airing with new episodes on HBO Max Thursdays.

The Morning Show: Season 2 (Apple TV +)
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are back in the second season of The Morning Show. Adjusted for COVID-19, the first episode takes place months after the UBA fallout where Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) reveal that the network knew and was covering up sexual misconduct by its employees.
The season premiere picks up on New Year’s Eve 2019, about to be 2020, while Bradley still works for UBA and Alex is trying to write a book. Hints are given about the upcoming pandemic as the countdown to midnight begins in Times Square and Cory Ellison attempts to bring Alex back on board to the show.
New episodes of The Morning Show stream on Fridays.
