Around 11 am on Monday, October 4, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram went down in a major, worldwide outage that lasted over five hours. It’s a major and highly unusual digital disruption for millions, many of whom rely on tools like WhatsApp to communicate. Fortunately, Facebook does seem to be stabilizing for some, but in the age of the social media manager, the five or so hours of its absence drove many Dallas businesses and brands to express themselves on a more stable app: Twitter.
