The Goss-Michael Foundation’s opening night for artist Adam McEwen’s exhibit reverberated with works crafted from well-chewed gum and text messages fashioned from vinyl on paint. Contemporary art enthusiasts wrapped their heads around the British mastermind’s installations, paintings and sculptures that bridge the gap between history and fiction, making things momentarily unfamiliar. Best in show: McEwen’s Untitled (Jeff, Nicole, Macaulay, Bill, Rod, Marilyn, Malcolm), a work based on obituaries for celebrities still alive. Gallery gazers: Kenny Goss, Joyce Goss, John Runyon, Eduardo and Kary Brittingham, Niven Morgan, Shelby Wagner, Lyle and Lynn Burgin, Anais Assoun, Kristen Wilson, and John and Marlene Sughrue.
