In celebration of its signature party’s 10th anniversary, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston’s famous celebratory pairing of Champagne and Ribs broke with tradition. This year, organizers swapped the tent and balmy spring weather for a cool October-evening block party. The understated affair, overseen by James Rodriguez and Melinda and Felix Chevalier, honored Diedra Fontaine, Chloe Dao, Sydney Dao, John Guess Jr., and Elwyn Lee. Serving up the namesake nourishment for the night was talented Jason Kerr’s Zilla Street Eats, while entertainment flowed from the Robert Glasper Trio, whose lead performer hails from Houston. Newly appointed CAMH curator Dean Daderko happily engaged with all the flâneurs strolling through the museum’s current exhibition, “Donald Moffett: The Extravagant Vein” (through January 8, 2012). Enjoying it all: CAMH director Bill Arning and senior curator Valerie Cassel Oliver and husband Christopher Oliver, Susie Criner, Payson Tucker, Bill Goldberg, McKay Otto, Tina and Josh Zulu, Amanda Knox, and Marita and J.B. Fairbanks.
