Sheryl Crows’ song “If It Makes You Happy” captured the spirit of Vogel Alcove’s 25th birthday at the 2012 Arts Performance Event in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The artist rocked the hall, but not before more than 500 guests raised funds for the organization’s Childcare Center for the Homeless via brisk bidding at a live auction that included a Christopher Martin painting, a luxury stay at Teton Pines in Jackson Hole, a 2012 Fashion Week experience in NYC, a suite at a Mavericks game for 18 guests and a Loewe crocodile handbag. Pat and Emmitt Smith took center stage before the sold-out crowd to present a $25,000 check to board chair Sheila Chapman. With a song in their heart: chairmen Beth and Jim Gold and Ann and Lee Hobson, plus Jackie and Michael Hoffman, Lynn and Gil Friedlander, Dawn and Craig Budner, Mimi and Glen Martin, Sabrina and James Donnell, Ebby Halliday, Hilaria Harris, Karen Luken, Tina and Richard Wasserman, Sabrina and James Donnell, Sam Saladino, Ken Downing, Perry Smith, and Lynae Fearing.
