One of the most brilliant choreographers and collaborators of our time, Bill T.Jones, takes stage this month to inaugurate the first annual Mitchell Artist Lecture. A MacArthur Genius and Kennedy Center Award winner, Jones’ tantalizing career includes the Tony-garnering musicals Fela! and Spring Awakening. Why we’re going: to get the behind-the-scenes scoop on Jones’ endeavors with visual, literary and performing giants of our time including Louise Nevelson, Kiki Smith, Toni Morrison, Jessye Norman and Keith Haring, as well as companies from Boston to Lyon, including our own Houston Grand Opera. Thursday, September 12, 7 pm, at Moores Opera Houston, University of Houston; gratis and open to the public; 713.743.5749; mitchellcenterforarts.org.
