Patrick Renner takes over an esplanade along Montrose Blvd., across from Art League Houston in another winning public art project for ALH.

Nearly two years in formation, after extensive paperwork and special approvals from City of Houston, and a community team of fellow artists and volunteers, the joyful, organic — it reminds us of an op art dragon or a roller coaster gone wild — sculpture cavorts and roils, the result of donated Valspar paint (from Lowe’s at 610), steel (courtesy Hefco Enterprises and Triple S) and the ingenuity of Renner who repurposed wood from our past (an abandoned cotton gin off I-10 east) and transformed it into a symbol for the mad, frenetic but still purposeful Houston art scene (through May 2014, and possibly beyond).
