Everyone loves a self-made success story, and jewelry designer Kendra Scott definitely qualifies. She started her company out of her home with $500; now it’s a thriving online business with boutiques in Austin, Dallas and Beverly Hills. Next, Scott takes on Houston with two locations: Rice Village (her largest shop yet, at 2,100 square feet) and CityCentre (1,700 square feet). The light-blue walls and metallic embellishments reflect Scott’s personal aesthetic. “I love the mix of chic, contemporary pieces with warm, vintage and natural accents, so you’ll find everything from Lucite chairs and chandeliers to succulent plants and rustic wooden floors,” she says. Bold statement pieces with colorful stones are Scott’s signature. The jewelry, which coordinates with current fashion trends, has strong followings both in Texas and in Hollywood. We can’t wait to get our hands on the Kendra Scott Color Bar, where customers match stones with metal settings to create custom pieces via touch-screen displays and iPads.
