The news is that New York eatery Il Mulino — one of the Big Apple’s hot spots since it opened in 1981 — will debut a new concept in Houston at The Westin Houston Memorial City. This version, Trattoria Il Mulino, debuts this spring with classic Abruzzi fare, from pizzas and pastas to lighter dishes composed with seasonal ingredients … At CityCentre, Alex Brennan-Martin debuts Bistro Bar, a new 1,900-square-foot space adjoining his popular Bistro Alex. Bistro Bar serves as a culinary laboratory of sorts, where chef Juan Carlos Gonzalez tries small-plate seasonal dishes before they hit the menu next door … Speaking of bar menus, Arturo Boada, owner of Arturo’s Uptown and developer of popular downtown tapas bar Solero, is bringing the tapas option back. Swing by the bar of his Italian trattoria to munch on Spanish and Italian-inspired tapas such as beef empanadas, veal ravioli with truffle butter or sliced chorizo with Arturo’s marinara sauce … Bellaire mom Lucy Corona, a margarita fan who felt guilty drinking the 500-calorie cocktails, has developed SlimRitas, a fresh-tasting bottled mix that slices the caloric intake down to 100. A bright balance of tart and sweet flavors, SlimRitas are mixed up at the Houstonian Hotel and Taco Milagro; the bottled mix is sold at Richard’s Fine Wines and Liquors.
