These days, the name Brian Twomey is on everyone’s mind. The reason for the buzz? The developer’s array of new ventures. The first just opened at 2917 Fairmount Street, in the former Lola space: The Common Table, packed with nearly 70 beers and comfort food from French-trained chef Ben Ackland. We’re going for The Camburger — yes, with camembert, on a grilled brioche bun — and the red-chili, honey-cured filet of beef. Twomey’s second culinary undertaking is The Marquee Club at Highland Park Village. The two-story, Art Deco, fine-dining spot is set to open in November, adjacent to the soon-to-be-revamped Village Theater (which, by the way, is another Twomey project). The Marquee Club is inspired by NYC’s historic 21 Club but will “feel like it’s been in HP Village forever,” Twomey says. Stay tuned for more … A taste of Tuscany arrives late next month at the hand of restaurateur Alberto Lombardi with the opening of his new steak house, La Fiorentina. Housed at 4501 Cole Avenue in the former Chip’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers spot, the menu proffers house-made bean soup, jumbo roasted shrimp and traditional porterhouse steak, all served in an intimate setting … Two culinary craftsmen — Flynn Dekker of Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão and Shawn Horne, former chef at Kitchen 1924 — have merged paths on North Henderson Avenue with their recently opened eatery, Horne & Dekker. Here, an extensive comfort-food menu combines with a sleek, modern interior. What we’re craving? The mushroom soup, the Coca-Cola–braised pork carnitas and the cedar-plank salmon. (2323 N. Henderson Avenue, 214.821.9333) … For Neighborhood Services owner and chef Nick Badovinus, all good things happen in threes. Hence, his third and newest NS, set to open after the Fourth of July at 10720 Preston Road near Preston Royal Village. The bar and grill is similar to the original Lovers Lane hot spot, which means more Three Jack & Mac Gratin for everyone! … Cuisine connoisseur Andre Natera has a new kitchen to call home: He’s moving in as executive chef at The Fairmont Dallas’ Pyramid Restaurant & Bar. Natera’s earthy influence is already apparent: The majority of his creations boast ingredients from Pyramid’s on-site garden and from local farmers. (Now, that’s fresh.) Reservations 214.720.5249 … Insiders know that Mondays are the best days to lunch at Preston Center. Why the early-week enthusiasm? Chef Kent Rathbun fires up his Big Daddy smoker outside Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen for an all-day barbecue feast. Make tracks to 6130 Luther Lane. We surely will.
